On the Queen’s Silver Jubilee the Sex Pistols released their song ‘God Save the Queen’ and gave us their own skewed version of the national anthem.

Based on guitarist Steve Jones’ searing memoir ‘Lonely Boy’, the six-part TV series ‘Pistol’ chronicles the band’s rise from obscurity to iconic status.

#Newsnight’s Kirsty Walk spoke to Danny Boyle about the challenges of filming the series; including the band’s frontman John Lydon trying to stop it being made.

Ahead of the Platinum Jubilee they also discussed Boyle’s memorable collaboration with the Queen for the London 2012 Olympic opening ceremony.

Newsnight is the BBC’s flagship news and current affairs TV programme – with analysis, debate, exclusives, and robust interviews.
